Tochigi Prefecture and Sakura City conducted large-scale joint Disaster Drills on the assumption of high magnitude earthquake were conducted on August 28th, at Sakura City General Athletic Park involving over 130 businesses and organizations and their employees.
Sakura City International Association was part of the Multilingual Disaster Support Center set up team, working in cooperation with staff of International Section of Tochigi Prefectural Government, Policy Planning Section of Sakura City, and TIA (Tochigi International Association). Four foreign residents acting as evacuees and four registered interpreters exchanged Q’s and A’s as if they were at the real disaster shelter.
